This volume presents reviews and research developments in the small-scale interactions of turbulence and sediment transport in geophysical boundary layers. The review section covers the fundamentals of the analysis of turbulent flow and sediment transport, while the research sections cover aspects of turbulence characteristics and sediment behaviour. Laboratory work over the past 30 years is reviewed. Throughout, emphasis is placed on the comparison between laboratory findings and monitoring procedures, the practicalities of measurement in natural conditions and the flow-sediment transport characteristics. Popular instrumentation is also reviewed.
