Orthoplatinated Primary Amines-Syntheses, Structures and Properties

Cyclometalation reactions are among the most investigated reactions in chemistry: a great variety of applications to this compound class; catalysis and enantioselective reactions are just the most examined topics. Especially, in case of platinum coordination compounds besides catalytic activity, a major application of platinum is in chemotherapy for the treatment of colorectal, ovarian or small cell lung cancer. Due to growing immunisation of cancerous cells and the severe side effects of the invasive treatment on the patient, alternative agents with reduced side effects or, at least, additional comparable agents are called for.
