Important advances have been achieved in vertical scar mammaplasty since the successful first edition of this book, which described the fundamentals of the technique. This new, completely revised and updated edition fully reflects the evolution in vertical scar mammaplasty during the past decade. Previously published procedures have been refined, and a variety of newer techniques are presented, including several breast reduction procedures using a short scar and techniques of mastopexy that pay specific attention to enhancement of breast projection and upper fullness. Extensive consideration is also given to the management of complications and suboptimal treatment outcomes. An impressive list of international authors have contributed to the book, each describing their own technique step by step in the manner of a manual. The surgical techniques are precisely depicted in high-quality illustrations, and readers will also have access to videos that will shorten the learning curve.

Moustapha Hamdi gained his medical degree from the Medical School of Damascus, Syria, and subsequently worked in general surgery before commencing his plastic surgery training at Brugmann University Hospital, Brussels, Belgium. In 1997 he also graduated as a Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Free University of Brussels and obtained a PhD in Plastic Surgery for work on pedicled perforator flaps in breast surgery. As winner of a European Association of Plastic Surgery/American Association of Plastic Surgery Fellowship, Dr. Hamdi undertook a further Fellowship in Aesthetic and Oculoplastic Surgery in Atlanta in 2005. Since 2008 he has been a Professor in the Plastic Surgery Department at Gent University Hospital, Belgium, and in 2011 he was appointed Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Brussels University Hospital. He has also been a visiting professor at various universities in USA and Europe. He is the author of more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and won the Hans Anderl Award from the European Association of Plastic Surgery for the best publication during 2005-2010.
