The first two chapters discuss the advantages and the complications of this approach to surgical and pathological pain control. The rest of the book examines the individual nerve blocks. Separate chapters are devoted to the major peripheral plexuses and their terminal branches and to spinal, lumbar epidural, thoracic epidural and caudal anaesthesia. In the final section therapeutic blocks are discussed. Each chapter follows the same format, presenting anatomy, equipment, positioning, technical approach, drugs and their side effects, indications and contra-indications.
