This book introduces PYNQ, a Python-based framework from Xilinx® that makes it easier for users to build electronic systems on Xilinx platforms. The book covers the architecture of PYNQ, the design tools and methods, software and hardware design approach, as well as rich experiment cases on communications, multimedia, and deep learning. This book serves as a useful guide for those getting starting with, or working with PYNQ and enables the learners to have a thorough understanding of the hardware/software co-design approaches in the area of the communication, multimedia, and other information system components.

This book is organized based on the teaching materials of 'hardware comprehensive experiments' which is an experimental course in BUPT, for both undergraduate and graduate students, and domestic and international students. This course has more than ten years of teaching experience and has taught hundreds of students.

Songlin Sun received the B.S. degree in radio technology and the M.S. degree in signal and information processing from the Shandong University of Technology, in June 1997 and January 2000, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in communication and information system from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, in September 2003. He is currently Professor with the School of Information and Communication Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. His research interests include signal processing in wireless communication, video code, and multimedia transmission.

Jiaqi Zou received the B.S. degree in Communication Engineering from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (BUPT) in 2020. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in BUPT. Her research interests include integrated sensing and communication and video processing. She is an IEEE student member. She received the best paper award from the 2020 IEEE International Conference on Visual Communications and Image Processing.

Zixuan Zou received the B.S. degree in Communication Engineering from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (BUPT) in 2021. He is currently pursuing the M.S. degree in BUPT. His research interests include integrated sensing and communication. He is an IEEE student member.

Shaokang Wang received the B.S. degree in Communication Engineering from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (BUPT) in 2021. He is currently pursuing the M.S. degree in BUPT. His research interests include video codec and wireless communication. He is an IEEE student member.
