This book helps you understand what capabilities the DNS service provides to Windows 2000 networks and how it inter-operates with other versions of DNS. It also discusses the RFCs that pertain to DNS and provides you with an understanding of each of them.

Bob Collier began his career in the computer industry programming in the early 1980s while on active duty in the military. He helped design, implement, and manage computer networks at military organizations. He currently is a Senior Technical Instructor at the Advanced Computer Education Center, School of Engineering and Applied Science, Southern Methodist University in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to his responsibilities as a technical instructor, Bob also administers the network at SMU and is the Exchange Administrator. Special areas of expertise include Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 planning and upgrade, and Exchange Server implementation. Bob is currently certified as an MCSE, MCT, MCP+I, and A+. He is pursuing Windows 2000 and MCSD certifications as well as CCNA. Bob is also involved in consulting for small- to medium-size businesses in San Antonio and surrounding areas, specializing in network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and documentation skills for Windows NT 4.0 BackOffice networks. Bob has contributed to several books and online books and has done some technical editing for Windows NT magazine. Andy Ruth has been in the computer industry since the late 1970s when he joined the U.S. Navy and provided support of flight simulators. In the corporate environment, he has provided systems support for computers ranging from large mainframes to small PC networked environments. He holds MCT and MCSE + I certifications, as well as others, and has written a number of other books on Microsoft products. Ruth is currently a Program Manager at Microsoft Corporation, working with the Windows 2000 training curriculum, and is also a guest speaker at technology seminars.
