The ups and downs of owning a race horse with hints and tips for prospective owners.
The book is an account of one very ordinary person's quest to become a racehorse owner and his growing obsession with and love for the sport. This is not a book about famous jockeys, trainers and horses. It is a story of the challenges and low points facing an owner on a budget but it also describes the elation and joy when things do, eventually, go right. There is also a useful section of tips and do's and don'ts for those who want to have a go at ownership for themselves.

Philip Woodcock-Jones was born in Derby and lives with his wife in rural South Derbyshire where they have trained their own horses for dressage. He was educated at Long Eaton Grammar School and was a keen sportsman excelling at cricket. He always held a passion for jump racing and after his marriage he started riding horses himself and became involved in their day to day management. This ignited a desire to become involved in racehorse ownership. Now retired, he previously worked as a sales manager and sales director for two different companies in the field of educational sales and he has also been self-employed. In 2017 he was appointed to the Board of the British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre.
