Kenneth Grahame (1859–1932) was a British writer born in Edinburgh, who moved to Berkshire, England, as a young child. In 1900, his son was born, and Grahame made up stories to tell him at bedtime. These stories eventually turned into The Wind in the Willows, a story that has been beloved by children for ages.
