Couple and Family Therapy presents the major theories of couple and family therapy using a case-based approach that helps you understand how to apply theory to counseling practice. Each chapter begins with a distinct, realistic client case. As theoretical elements are introduced, you are immediately shown how the theoretical constructs, assumptions, principles, and techniques are applied to the case at hand. Both foundational theories and current approaches are presented in a common structure to enhance your understanding and learning. Each chapter also presents evidence-based research of the theory and an evaluation of the theory's application with clients of diverse backgrounds. The case-based presentation gives effective, concrete examples of how theory is applied, better preparing you for your own professional practice.
