All data is from the MANNHEIM CENTRE FOR COCIAL RESEARCH (MZES), a body affiliated to the University of Mannheim, Germany, and one of the leading social research institutes in the world. PETER FLORA is professor of sociology at the University of Mannheim. His main field of research is the historical macrosociology of European societies and welfare states.
